    I guess I don't understand this grey market stuff. Is this a way for authorized dealers to sell their stuff for less than what the mfgr wants them to sell it for?

    I did not think Mfg's could dictate retail pricing anymore. Thought that practice went out with the "Fair Trade Laws" of the 70's.

    Several manufacturers do have minimum pricing clauses in their agreements with retailers.

    okley dues it also if a seller sells at less than their price they want the will be no longer be a authrised dealer. it is to keep up the value of the product velodyne,onyyo and denon also do this.

    There are two times of minimums - actual selling price and advertised price. Minimum advertised pricing (MAP) is very common. You can usually tell who has minimum selling prices when a store has an 'everything on sale' ad but lists a few manufacturers at the bottom that don't apply. Bose would be the most cited example.

    Onkyo and Denon don't have minimum selling prices (at least where I work). Denon definitely has MAP pricing though.
