I just got Polk Rti12 to replace two old JBL HLS615.
I have been using Polk PSW1200 subwoofer with the JBL speakers. My receiver is Sony STR-DE-935
I am not impressed with the performance of the RTi12 Main Speakers compared to what I am describing below.

Few months back I saw a pair of very old 36'' tall YAMAHA speaker cabinets in good condition at the town's garbage disposal station and brought them home (into my basement). I noticed that the cones of the woofers were falling apart. So I went to the local Radio Shack and got 12'' woofers, 6.5" Mid, Horn tweeters and 3 way cross over networks ( these were all on sale and spent only $150 for all the supplies) and rebuilt the Yamaha. It is a sealed enclosure. Original Woofer was 11'' and I had to make the front panel cut outs bigger to accommodate the Radio Shack drivers. The rebuilt Yamaha sounds fabulous. The bass is amazing. I am driving them with my older Sony receiver STR-DE 715. If I crank up the volume in the basement, the Yamaha shakes the first floor celing real good.

The rebuilt YAMAHA may not be a High Fidility System. But it's sound is impressive and Bassier than the RTi12 when listening to 2 Channel Stereo. The drivers I used to rebuild YAMAHA are rated for only 60 -70 Watts.

I went to Bestbuy and tested all their large Loudspeakers - none came anywhere near the rebuilt YAMAHA. Next I went to Cambridge Soundworks to compare it with CSW and Newton series.
Newton T500 sounded like the Rebuilt Yamaha but it sells for $2000.

RTi12 may need a better Amp than the Sony STR-DE 935 that I am using.

What would be a good 7.1 Channel Amplifier that would bring out the best of RTi12?

Get about 200 watts into them subs, if not more.
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
