I picked these old girls up the other night, gorgeous shape, no issues. Dated 1984. But they make my old Sony receiver choke. Any suggestions for (inexpensive) power amps? I really don't want to spend more than $500. Suggestions?
These will be used for stereo music and L/R in my Atmos+vintage Polk setup (frankenpolk center, Monitor 7B surrounds, Monitor 4B's surround back, 4 RC60i's in ceiling for Atmos height channels) all driven by Marantz SR6011. Planning on pre-out to a larger amp for the RTI-12’s for L/R... what should I be shopping for...?

I have to say I'm very impressed with my NAD... A strong amp from them will easily stay in budget, and easily drive you RTAs. My 11Ts are currently hooked up and going anywhere past 10 o'clock volume knob gets obnoxious quickly. The same should hold true for your 12s.

Which NAD model are you running?Current Collection: Monitor 4a (Peerless), Monitor 5B (Peerless), Modified Monitor 7b (Peerless), RTA15TL (SL3000), SDA CRS+ (194’s), SDA SRS 2.3TL, R100's, R200’s, R300 🤩

I am not specifically familiar with these, and their efficiency. It all depends on your final goal and price range, then you will get more useful answers.. IMO you can't really go wrong sonically with Parasound for their used prices. They will be better than the AVR. NAD is good product as well.
I have some 11t's. They also have two drivers. I do notice a bit of bass fall off with very good 100-125wpc SS amps. 250 wpc has no issues. That said the 11t's loose some detail at those levels. IMO a good 125-150wpc amp should be fine. 100 wpc may also do just fine. -
Parasound HCA-1500A. Should be able to find one under $500.

I have both a Parasound 2250 v2 and a NAD 906 bridged for 90×2 with one channel of the 3 or 6 depending on how you configure it.
I like the sound of the NAD better. Wont go as loud as i like but love the sound on my RTA 12B.
Id look for a NAD.Post edited by CH46E on -
If you want a reciever from about the same time frame take a look for a Pioneer A717 or A878. I heard one on a pair of Vandersteens. I liked it very much. And they look pretty cool toppless. The pioneer that is. Lol
My bad, i did not see ypu already had a pre htr.
Like others said. I would loom alfor a NAD. I love mine. Right nownit runs my 11t in the living room. -
Picked up a B&K ST1430 on eBay for $145 tonight. Hopefully it will have enough umph. Supposed to be 185Wpc into 4ohms. Can't wait til it shows up! Anyone familiar with it? I can find the manual for the 1430 Series II online but the series 1 manuals seem to be nonexistent...Current Collection: Monitor 4a (Peerless), Monitor 5B (Peerless), Modified Monitor 7b (Peerless), RTA15TL (SL3000), SDA CRS+ (194’s), SDA SRS 2.3TL, R100's, R200’s, R300 🤩
