CS400 is gone. Still have the RTA11tl's though. I've looked into packing and shipping. Depending on where you're at I can ship them anywhere in the 48 for $525 - 550 total. Paypal add 3%. These won't come down any further, it's going to cost me well over $100 to get them shipped so for the $350-400 I'd get out of it I'll keep them for my wife's karaoke set up.

EDIT 6/10/04

OK, my wife is tired of these sitting in the house and wants them out. Same deal goes as below, prefer local sale and will give priority to local sale. Price is $500. If you're looking for a whole front setup I've got a CS400 center and you can get all three for $650. Please, help me restore the peace!!

Hello,

I'm selling my RTA11t's which I modifed into 11tl's with the help of the people on this forum a year ago. I upgraded the tweeter to the RD0198-1 which replaced the SL3000 used originally in the RTA11tl. I also upgraded all internal wiring to Cardas, binding posts to Cardas and crossover components to Mills resistors, Solen / Axon caps and air core inductors. The difference in sound was fantastic. I posted this comment on 2/06/03

"I didn't have much of a chance to listen last night but the little I did hear I can say this, MUCH different sound, more real, more live, more defined and bigger low end, smoother highs! Love that new tweeter! Drums sound and feel like they are in the room with you, much more dynamic all around. "

In addition I also lined the entire cabinet of both speakers with asphalt based damping material to reduce cabinet resonance. The pedestal they oringally sat on has been removed and spike feed added (drilled into the bottom). I will include both the spike feet and pedestals although I can't vouch for the condition of the pedestals.

Pictures of the upgrade are here - http://webpages.charter.net/btreinen/speaker_tweak.htm

Pictures of them in use are here -

I would rate their condition as 6 of 10. I am the original owner of these speakers, purchased new in 1987 I think. Unfortunately I no longer have the original boxes and therefore have to restrict sale to "local" only. I'm willing to drive a bit to meet if you'd like. Local is Milwaukee, WI area. If you'd like them shipped, I may entertain that but it's on your dime. These speakers are nearly 20 years old and do show some signs of wear, one rear corner is a bit dented but not major there are some scratches on the tops but they are superficial - not through the veneer. Grills are perfect and, as you can see, have been off the speakers for quite some time. I can get more pictures close up of anything upon request.

I'm listing these here first because of the help that everyone on this board gave me when it came to upgrading these. The only reason I'm selling is because I upgraded to Odyssey Lorelei's. Sonicly I think you'll have a harder time ever finding a better sounding pair of RTA11tl's. I've got over $350 in upgrades to these and am asking $675. Paypal is accepted but money order or certified check are fine too.

I can be reached at btreinen@charter.net

Thanks! Brian.

A fully modded out RTA 11TL here folks.

It takes time and money to make a great speaker even better and Brian is a great guy. Someone's going to get a fantastic pair of speakers.

    Wes,

I'd never done anything like this before, but I had the help of Har & F1Nut, the Polk tech team who were great with getting out schematics of the crossovers and also my professional tutor who did almost all of the soldering work. It was one nights worth of effort once everything arrived and VERY well worth it!

Go for it, you'll be very glad you did!

    Brian.

    Brian - Very impressive indeed!

I used to have original 11tl's with the 3000 tweet and always thought it sounded too bright.

I live an hour north of you, wish I had the cash in hand!!

Nice mod, it looks as if you spent much care and time on them!

Thanks for the encouragement, Brian. I went out and talked to the guys in the meter shop and the supervisor said one guy was pretty good. They acted like it wouldn't be a big deal at all.

    There is hope! :D

It's really not. I went from scared to death that I'd kill my speakers to, thinking I could possibly do it, to really pumped about doing it to WOW that was easy and it sounds SWEET!
