With an idea by Polkmaniac and the nastiness being exibited on this fine forum lately, I have set up a Flame Pitt. Anything and Everything goes. You can find it here.
Lets keep Club Polk friendly and informative. This forum is for the spreading of ideas, information and stories about audio and home theater. If you just need to be a rabble rouser, or want to vent try The polk Flame Forum.

not saying its a bad idea or anything, but if there's some idiot(s) here who can't seem to follow rules, i doubt they're going to follow a rule that says to go someplace else if you don't want to follow the rules.
does that make sense???

True, you do make sense, I am not really expecting any amount of traffic here, i just was reading the apology forum and Polkmaniacs idea. As i have a website, on a server in my house, It literally took me two minutes to install the forum. www.teapottraveler.com does not get much traffic since I took down over 300gigs of music, so it just sits there. It is no sweat off my back, and now theres a place to vent if anybody needs it. And its cool, the first post on it has the fword. Perfect!Originally posted by PhantomOG

Guys, this just provides a place to have those heated discussions...
There will always be things that people don't agree on, and sometimes these debates get a little out of hand becuase we all feel so passionately about our thoughts and ideas.
The problem today is that there's no where for a headed debate to go, and human nature dictates that most people aren't just going to bakc down, therefore the HOS type threads...too many thoughts with no better place to go.
All this does is create an environment for those discussions...
This isn't a place to go just to start bashing someone...but it's for those threads that somehow get out of hand, much like the situation we had last night... -

You know, Rush Limbaugh sent me a PM a few weeks ago, and like a slug, I haven't given him the courtesy of a reply but he said he could help with the technical aspects.
That said, I'd caution against abandoning ship altogether. The forum has it's ups and downs and so forth but remember, it's what we as a group, make it.
That and Polk has, IMO, been and is a more than gracious host and has done a lot of favors for it's members. I, personally, will not abandon Club Polk out of a pure sense of loyalty

My objective is to not abandon this place, but have a location for information.
The vintage gear is all but lost as far as a reference here, and SDA information is non-existent, but for the fine Polk members' contributions. Is Ken supposed to be the constant source of what could be plain public information? I think the McGowan Bros. idea was sound and viable, why not create that interest again? I hear ya Mark and I'm not disagreeing....
All I'm saying is that I caution folks about getting TOO spun up and making a mass exodus. If we behave like adults and so forth, we can clean up the forum and make it better than ever.

Personally I see the rules as being for the most part fine assuming of course they are enforced the same way for all.
P.S. I see no particular distinction between saying eff you or some variation of that and spelling it out ... There's a lot better ways to get ones point across than resorting to the typical four letter vocabulary or some abbreviation of it. -

Agree with your sentiments, Troy. Not going anywhere either, generally too comfortable here. Feel like I am "vested" here. But a time comes everyones way where they get rubbed the wrong way and adult hood is suspended, at least temporarily.More later,

Simple rule to follow folks. If you are angry about a post from someone else and you are heated and ready to respond with a flaming pile of poo just stop and think "Would I say/do this to this guy/girl if I was face to face with them?" If you have any inkling of a doubt or hesitation towards no then either find a different/nicer way to say it or don't say it at all.
No need for a flame forum if people would just give some common respect and courtesy to thier fellow man and stop acting like such a "big man" and so on and so forth. Some of us may have that kind of attitude for real and they are secure enough in themselves to honestly say what they feel or think about a situation. That is fine and dandy because you know what? It takes all kinds. What those who are that way should remember is that not everyone can appreciate that kind of approach and to use discretion.
We are all human and we will all lose it some time. If you are in a heated argument with someone, continually taunting them even after they have become livid with you is not the way to go about doing things. Taunting people for sport is just plain pathetic and sadistic. For those that have harsh tempers, learn to count to ten and walk away. The thing everyone should remember is that we all have a breaking point. If you are going to push someone to thier breaking point for whatever reason then you must be fully prepared for all consequences. If you don't like getting banned or chastised by your fellow members or laughed at and such then don't go there and do the best you can to stay away from that point.
Last point and then I will shut up. Laughing at people and berating them just because you don't like them or had a bad experience with them is not going to do you or anyone else any good. If you have something to say, make your point and walk away. This isn't grade school playground. There is no need to pick on any one person for anything. Sometimes people can do some seriously stupid and/or disrespectful things but harping about it to no end only makes you stay angry and alienates someone who may have made a mistake and doesn't realize it because the rage caused by thier anger is clouding thier judgement.
We're all human, people. We are all equals, try to treat each other like it. No matter what anyone says or does. This is a fairly unique site on the Intarweb we have here. Very few other companies of any kind support thier consumer in such a way as this. Whether it is less of a resource to you now or not, it is still a billion times more effective than any other site out there. This is a community bonded by not only Polk Audio and thier products but a serious love of audio and the many related displines and hobbies surrounding it. We should be looking out for each other and helping each other out. We are a club and that is what clubs do. We don't need to lynch people but keeping an eye out for a good deal or a poor salesman/buyer is very much appreciated along with all the advice and basic comraderie that can be found here.
So take a step back realize that even with all the bad stuff that has been happening here lately, there are still far too many blessings this place offers for me to be able to count using all the extremties of my body!

( and i am not being sarcastic i went to my pastor today and went threw a confessional just after my grandmothers burial and he told me i did the right thing by aplogiseing and if i apologised god would forgive me so even if you all canno forgive me i know in my heart that i have ben forgivein by my lord jesus christ.
