I have a Sandisk mp3 player that has been reliable over the years. I see they have a 16GB player that supports bluetooth and FLAC which appeals to me for use with a wireless speaker when traveling. Apprx. how much listening time could I expect playing nothing but FLAC from 16GB?

Good question, I never gave any thought to how much compression is used when ripping a CD to FLAC.
How much is the one you're looking at? It sounds like something that would appeal
to me as well. So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Depends on the compression level that is used when writing the files. A quick look at the wiki page and a look at the link here - http://dsd-guide.com/size-comparison-chart-various-formats-dsd-wav-flac-mp3#.WYt4DIjyvcs should give you a good idea.

I guess I never really realized how much the compression level come into play on FLAC files!
Here is the player I am looking at:
I looked at a small sampling of my current FLAC files and am guesstimating that I should have over 500 songs available to me which will be plenty.
