I currently have rt1000p mains cs245 center and m3 surrounds. I just purchased a polk sub psw450 and have been doing some investigating as to how to set my system up properly. I'm looking for some advice as to the best way to hook the subs up My understanding is that I have 3 options that I know of ...if there are others let me know!
Option #1
I realize that the psw450 has a LFE input that is not filtered and that I can hook up directly to the Sub out out my reciever (yamaha rx-c793) I called Yamaha and the sub out IS filtered on the reciever. crossover is at 90. My understanding is that if I do this I would not be able to adjust the crossover frequency using the sub.
Option #2
This would be to run speaker wire from the reciever main speaker out to the subwoofer and then hook each front speaker up directly to the sub. By doing this I can use the crossover frequency adjustment on the sub.
Option #3
This makes me wonder if I have ever had my rt1000p mains hooked up properly. Doing a little "sub" investigation I see that there is a subwoofer line level input and output on the back of each of the two front mains. I currently have nothing hooked up to these connections. Should I have? Am I getting the full potential from the built in subs in the rt1000p without using the sub line level connections? Im thinking that I should be hooking these sub line level in somewhere...and that I would use my other sub connecting it to the LFE input and the sub out on the reciever.
Why is bass management so confusing :< Any help would be appreciated. Any response by the polk customer service people would be great Thanks!
