As the title says I have a set of original EPI m201 speakers w/ all 4 woofers w/ butyl surrounds. One speaker was horribly repaired at the seam of the surround and cone w/ what looks like Aleen's glue. I already ordered a replacement woofer that says all original w/ butyl surround so I'm not concerned here. Just for informational purposes can you mix and match both types of surrounds? Besides the obvious life expectancy of foam is there any real difference ??

Anything that changes the suspension of the cone is going to change the speaker characteristics. The question will be "how much".
