for spl, jbl in a ported box. or, if you've got the space and really dont mind it sounding like a load of shat, a 6th-order bandpass. which specific amp u looking at? if youre gonna do bandpass or ported, you'll need a better amp, in order to control the sub better (not a huge factor, but you mentioned your current setup hitting late, figured this would help). in a sealed box, it's quieter and tighter. which specific amps u looking at?
oh, and for spl, you'll probably want a 12. maybe a 15, look at www.adireaudio.com. they look cheapish, but have a great rep.

that's an understatement - in a small sealed box, the brahma can take 1600 rms; the 15" tempest will take 750 (rated), probably 900-1000 in reality. since you seem to be putting out 800 watts, that tempest would fit quite nicely. although, an adire kinda deserves a better amp. the baby momos will do quite nicely. talk to pbd, he likes em a lot.

so i hear (haha... okay, shutup). you'll have to go with sealed, they don't have the suspension for anything else.
