Based on the first post(s) to this thread, I believe/assume/imagine (hallucinate?) that the OP's buying new/current production "Tung-Sol" tubes indeed.

yeah, yeah -- me, too ;-)
Unlike me, they're workin' fine...
oh, back, sort of, on topic.
This is a useful one-stop shop resource (offered strictly "as is") on the 6SN7 and its forebears.

The other worthwhile 6SN7 article that comes to mind was in issue number 11 of the late Charles Kittleson's Vacuum Tube Valley magazine. These issues have been available, on and off, online as PDFs (for free), over the years, but may not be legitimately available at the moment. That being said, it's worth nosing around a little for anyone with interest in these venerable twin triodes.
EDIT: It's on the Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20131122141643/http://www.jumpjet.info/Pioneering-Wireless/eMagazines/VTV/VTV11.pdf
They were/are good tubes.

Progenitors of the 6SN7 -- the 27 and the 76

Im looking forward to giving them a go!
I was thinking about some upgrades to the internals of the buffer. -
Do a search on google there is cap upgrades out there. Thought about doing the cap upgrades to mine but life sometimes gets in the way.

I was thinking about some upgrades to the CD3. Im sure they used the cheapest parts they could. I just ha e not gotten around to opening it up to see whats in there. -
As i wait for MHARDY's tubes to show up i took out my Sylvania gta smoked glass tubes and put the oem chinese tubes back in. They lack clarity. I can hear a bit of distortion in the highs. Bass is lacking. But they (clear glass) sure glow pretty compared to the smoked glass.
