The very first 10's looked like this.
Political Correctness'.........defined
"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."

Around 1981 they switched to all black 6500 drivers The earlier 6500s (pre 1981) had a gray fiber around them. Also around late 82 they switched to a US made Peerless with a rough texture on the face plate. Around late 82 early 83 they changed the cabinet to one that had a shorter grill. They started calling it a 10A around late 81 early 82

The gray fiber Keith talks about is just the surround gasket ring on most speakers to protect the rubber or foam surround.
Polk decided it wasnt needed like on a foam surround.
