These on ear cans are making me crazy like "beans n franks".

    Have not tried those. Some aftermarket replacement pads will definitely change the sound of the headphones. Headphones are designed and tuned with the ear pads they originally came with. Thicker (intending to be more comfortable) pads might change their sound. Be sure to read several reviews of the replacement pads especially for a higher-end set of cans.

    40cs are not too expensive cans and I like the sound. Probably better to get better cans.

    I had replaced my Grado 225i L-cushion pads with some from Ear Zonk from Amazon and am very pleased, especially at half the price and they came with a headphone case for the Grados that works great.

    The first pair of pads you posted are ones I intend to try with my Massdrop/HifiManHE350 headphones. Others have tried them with those hp and report good results.

    I agree with aprazer's comment re changing the sound--it could be a good thing, or perhaps not. Moreover, those Brainwavz pads are for over-ear hp and may not be a fit for your on-ears.
