I was looking through another thread adn got to thinking that I could use a good calibration disk.
I picked one up at best Buy a year or so ago for $50, but don't remember which one it is...
Is there a general opinion on which disk is best for audio calibration??? There used to be a disc out here on the Polk site, but don't see it anymore...

At $50 it almost has to be the Avia disc that you bought. Not sure if it's still 'the standard" in all respects, but still very good overall. Can find them on-line for <$30.
The Video Essentials disc has issues with the sub calibration tracks.
Sound&Vision also offers a good calibration disc.
Here's a calibration thread for reference. It inlcudes links ot sites where you can download and burn bass tracks deeper than those on any of the discs.

For just audio only, isn't the Dr. Chesky's disc any good?

Rockman,
I could be mistaken but I think the Chesky disc is sound effects and music only. I'm pretty sure that it is not a calibration disc.
I've been using the S&V disc (made by Ovation) and have had good luck with it. Generally I use it for video and use my preamps test tones for the audio calibration/spl measurements. -
FrankZ, Thanks for the info. I do not own Dr. Chesky's disc, but I thought that I had read that it contained some good test tones and other calibration tools. I might look into this disc anyway.
