You can get compression style or even a set-screw connector. Parts Express or even Rat Shack can provide them at a reasonable price.
-
I saw some but silver tip not gold should I go with gold ?? and the RS ones will be as good as say (yuck) Monster ??
-
I doubt your ears or mine could tell the diference between gold or silver, or even Rat Shack vs. Monster.
-
I just bought a bunch of the set-screw types at BB for not a bad price...
Mine are gold, but I doubt any better than silver... -
all they have here at BB is monster !! (in canada)
-
Hey Willow, I saw a few gold set screw bananas at the BB near the St. Laurent mall. It was about two weeks ago, they were $10 for 4 plugs. Also any RS has the gold solder type, 4 for $10.Graham

No, north of Toronto, but I am going again to Ottawa tonight to visit family. Soldering isn't difficult. You cant get an iron form RS for about $20 but they are very useful. Are you a Sens fan?Graham

PM
Ya, Monster is fine but the banana plugs are 4 for $30 here.Graham -
Unlike making a set of DIY interconnects that use RCA connectors on each end, your banana plugs don't need to be soldered.
Most banana plugs come in 2 section that screw togather.
These banana plugs just require you to strip off about a 1/4" to 1/2" of your speaker wire, insert it into the first section of the plug. Fold the wire over, and then screw the other section of the banana plug into the section that has the folder wire in.
You can purchase a pretty good gold plated plug from Rat Shack. Don't confuse these banana plugs with RCA connectors.

Willow ...
You are getting confused ... You are [not] trying to make a set of interconnects that normally use [soldered] RCA connectors on each end of the wire.
All you are trying to do is attach a banana plug on the end of your speaker wires. These banana plugs don't have to be soldered. They are attached like I told you in the above thread. They are just screwed togather.

funny cause the guy at RS said we have to other wise the cable falls out of the plug there are no screws in those plugs so how does it stay in ??? Im using 12 awg
-
Yeah the common RS ones that are sold here do have to be soldered. I have about 20 of them. They do have the screw together type but they are harder to find and not gold plated. (at least the ones I have found)Graham

These might not need soldering.
