Wich speaker?
Greetings again. I'm bajaf from Barcelona. I'm go on with my home theater. Actually I have R15 for surrounds Csi30 for central channel and a Psw202 subwoofer. And for my front speakers, i'm in doubt between R30 or Rti38.
these are my options in my budget. i like very much the sound of the Rti38 but the R30 are very nice. My wife thinks that a pair of floorstanding speakers are very "nice" in a living-room and that a pair of Rti38 are ridiculous. I tell her that i like much more the sound of the rti38 that the r30.She thells me that she hears both the same quality sound, she doesn,t appreciate difference.
She preffers the appearence that the quality sound, and i prefer the quality sound over the aspect. What must i do? I like very much the Csi30 and i think the Rti38 has the same sound. I'm a wrong?
I hope your advice.
Nice to see you again.

I think the RTi38 has a better sound.
In my experience, a bookshelf, when priced close to a floorstanding speaker, will have the better sound. I'm not sure how much you're looking at for each speaker, but would assume they are similarly priced.
I've heard both and there's no comparison for me, the RTi38 wins our easily, when paired with a sub of course...
I'm sure you'll get other opinions on here, but there's mine... -
Use your wife's opinion to your advantage. Tell her you agree that floorstanding speakers are a good choice and that the Rti70's are the better option, plus they'll look nicer than the R30's in your home. Let her help you upgrade to a superior floorstanding speaker. With her assistance, your budget may grow a little larger.
I don't know about Barcelona, but around here, you can sometimes find Rti70's cheaper than the R30's.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Bajaf - No you are not wrong, the RTi38/CSi30 are timbre matched. I would go with whatever is cheaper in your location, RTi38 or RTi70.
If she likes floorstanding speakers, then the RTi70 is what you should buy. You are already winning half the argument in this situation, why not go this route?
Good luck, both are excellent speakers.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
I'll agree as well...if you can get the RTi70's go for it.
I'd say the RTi38 is the better of your original choices though...better than the R30... -
This is just my opinion, but I think that you should buy the speakers that your wife says. It is much easier to get different speakers latter on than it is to get a different wife. In other words, pamper your wife and make her happy. (I have been married to the same woman for 25 years.)

thanks to you all. But the fact is that here in Barcelona the cheaper prices that i have found have been:
Pair of R30: 330$
Pair of Rti38: 330$
And....
Pair of Rti70:680$
I know that Rti70 are the best option but my budget is not that. So I asked your advice between R30 and Rti38.
When you say that you can find a pair of Rti70 at the same price that a pair of R30, I just can,t believe it!!!!!!!!!!
Well wich speaker, R30 or Rti38?
Greetings to everyone. -

Can't tell you how many times a question has been asked with two alternatives and we end up introducing more and more options...force of habit I guess...
RTi38 gets my vote for sound quality...hands down no contest...but you've got the wife factor to deal with also...can't help you there... -
The RTi38 has been recommended previously by more than one person, you should read closer.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
