The rig

Pioneer Elite 41
Pioneer 25 disc cd jukebox
Entry level Toshiba dvd player (to be replaced)
Rotel 955ax cd player

Stereo cabinet finally done! Tweaking and recalibration to be done soon.

It was a hard decision but I left out the rotel 6 ch amp because it sounds so good in the 2 ch rig. Did have it hooked up and it was a definite improvement over the Pioneer. A bit surprised the sound quality was that noticeable over an elite component. Of course, it is the entry level elite...

Like having the preouts available to me. The amp portion of the elite was a bit of a disappointment to me. I was expecting more of an improvement in that area but I found the Rotel 6 ch. amp still sounded better.

The cd playback was a big disappointment initially. The midrange was muddled and flat sounding. But, after reading the manual, I discovered the stereo/direct setting which bypasses the dsp processing and send the cd signal straight to the amp. Much better!! It sounds pretty close to what I had gotten accustomed to when I had the rotel wired directly into the amp. What the hell are they adding with the dsp?!?!

No impressions of dvd playback yet. Just finished programming the remote for the dvd player.

All in all, happy with the elite. Got support for 6.1 for the future and if my next project is successful, I might be moving the rotel amp up to the HT rig.

Yes. Got lots of advice from the board though. Turned out alright and you can't really see the mistakes unless you're looking real close.

Now, on to listening and enjoying the moo-sic...

I really appreciate all the advice and encouragement.

I'm sure you'll find the remote for the cd spinner soon though. :D:D
