Should I upgrade to Krell?

Hi Guys,
I find myself enjoying 2 channel sound more and more. I am currently using an Outlaw 950 with 5 of thier M200 monoblocks for redbook playback and HT. I really like the sound but have heard that a 2 channel pre-amp would be the next level I am looking for. In my quests for info about stereo pre-amps and shopping around, I have come across what I think is a very good deal and need your opinions.
There is a customer of a salesman I know at one of the Sound Advice's that was heavily into 2 channel but wants to go into a flagship receiver now for stereo and HT. He has a Krell 250P preamp and 250a stereo amp (250x2) that he is looking to part with. I can get this combo for $1500.00. I have heard great things about about Krell and would love to step up to this level.
My questions are:
1- Does anyone know if there are any faults with these models? (Mantis?)
2-Sounds like a good deal to me, anyone disagree?
3- Synergy- My setup is:
Fronts: B&W CDM7NT's
Center: B&W CDMCNT
Rears: Polk LS/FX
Would the Krell sound good mated with my 7NT's for stereo?
I have heard that Rotel & B&W work well together-will Krell compliment them nicely?

Any other opinions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks & best regards,
Jeremy

Send JRausch an email or a PM and get his input. He works for Soundtrack and recently told me that they are dropping the Krell line.

I have the Krell KAV-250P and the KAV-250A. It kicks butt. The amp alone routinely sells on e-bay for $1500. The preamp typically sells for $800-900. So, basically, if you buy the combo, you are getting the preamp for free. Believe me, this is a steal for this equipment. You would be able to recoupe your investment anytime via e-bay. He is selling this equipment far under used market value.

As far as the sound, the bass is solid, and the signal is incredibly clean. Krell reliability is unsurpassed. You can't go wrong and I wouldn't hesitate at all to buy used Krell. They are built like mini-tanks. The components on the circuit board are almost artistically layed out. True craftsmanship. No cost-cutting.

You'll never regret buying these components. The only thing that you may want to upgrade to is bigger Krells or tube equipment. As far as resale, again, you can turn these around in a heartbeat as a combo sale.

If you like the B&W's, the Krell's are probably the most suited amps to drive them with.

There are other Krell amp series that I prefer but you won't get them for $1500.

Assuming the amp & preamp are in good shape, it would be difficult at best to have a combo as good at anywhere near that price point.

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for the input. Sorry about the delay, I travel for work from time to time. I just acquired the Krells (Kav 250 a&p) and they are awesome. Really open up my B&W CDM7nt's. Very precise but intense bass. Very controlled. Mids and highs even more transparent. I appreciate all your coments and recommendations. I think I made a steal on these. Thanks again guys.
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy
