Should I wait for LSi7 or go with Rt25i NOW?

I sent a desperate email to polk CS...I've been searching high and low for the Polk Lsi series (Circuit City, Crutchfield, Good Guys, audio shops in San Francisco, etc...) and couldn't find them after wasting hours of time...and Polk CS sent me this email listing two dealers in California that are far far away from me. Ummm...I don't have a car.

There are plenty of speakers...GREAT speakers...in the sub-$800/pair range. I am not going to go out of my way to get these speakers!!

Does anyone think Polk should maybe start selling direct on these puppies??

Now, I guess I'll fall back on the Rt25i's. Anyone have any comments on them??

THANKS!

What dealers in California did Polk CS say were carrying the LSI speakers?

I guess polk doesn't want to sell to the people in Northern California. If you had a car you are only a couple hours away from Santa Maria. You are closer to one of the stores then I am here is Sacramento.

FYI, here are some quotes from the last portion of a review Robert Reina did on the RT25i in the Sept. 2001 issue of STEREOPHILE magazine. "The Polk RT25i has set a new benchmark for what an entry level speaker can accomplish is many areas." He goes on to say, "It is far superior to any speaker I've heard from less than $500/pair, and has become my favorite speaker for under $1000/pair." And finally, "I recommend the Polk RT25i to anyone considering buyng a speaker of moderate price and size. I recommend it even to audiophiles used to more expensive wares, just so they can see how much speaker 320 of todays dollars can buy. I've never been more impressed by such an inexpensive loudspeaker." Now Magic168, go out and give them a listen and let your ears be your guide. I did, and purchased a pair for my rears and am very pleased with them.

One thing to consider... the RT25's are 8ohm speakers and the Lsi line are all 4ohm speakers... so if your planning on LsI's...in the future... need an amp to run them also...

magic168, i am running the rt25i's for rears in my HT setup, paired with 35i's in the rear as well. when i first got these, i hooked them up as front's just to test them out. for the price, these things are amazing! the rt35i's are also very nice, and you step up to a 6.5" driver. either of these speakers can't be beaten in their price range, IMHO...

Hey GZ, thanks for quoting that great RT25i review. I was gonna do just that. Personally, I love the RT35i's. They remain my favorite Polk speakers. In fact, I'd go so far to say that they sound closest of any Polks to the beautiful detail and openess of the LSi9's.

The short list of exclusive LSi dealers is growing daily, so you may want to check back with Cust Serv about dealers near you.
