I have an Onkyo NR905 Receiver, outputting to Polk speakers. From time to time I hear very annoying and loud "pop" sounds. I understand this may be traced back to a fault on the Onkyo receiver and that this is corrected using a firmware update. (This is apparently an old problem on the forums, but I have never found a fix.) Can anyone point me to the DSP/firmware update files which I can download? Appreciate the help.

Doesn't sound like a firmware issue to me.

Welcome Mike, it sounds like you may be overdriving it (volume too high). Which the popping sounds is trying to tell you to turn it down.
If you don't, you might burn out one of your speakers. Usually the tweeter is the first thing to go.
The good news is that you do have preouts on your NR905, so you can add a separate amplifier.
I always recommend getting a 200wpc @ 8ohms amp of however many channels you wish.
Here are some suggestions.

This would be my choice, since I have a Sunfire 5 channel 405wpc amp!
