Speaker Selection and Placement Help

I am remodeling my family room and my wife wants me to get rid of the four rear surround speakers I have mounted to my walls. She wants me to install ceiling mount. For the two front and center channel speakers, I don't have that restriction, so I was thinking about the following for a 7.1 system. 4 x 90RT for the side and rear surround. 2 x RTiA7 for the two front and CSiA6 for the center. I have a subwoofer that I will re-use. How does this arrangement sound?

I have a fairly large room - 22' x 15' and my ceilings are high - 12' flat. The main listening position (couch) is about 17' from the TV and front/center speakers. Additionally, I have an open kitchen right behind the couch, so no rear wall and a dinette area to the left of the couch so no wall on the left either. I am pretty much stuck with ceiling mount.

I'd like some advice on speaker placement for this arrangement. My plan was to put the two front speakers about 7' apart with the TV in the center. I will put the center channel above the TV angled down toward the couch.

As for the ceiling mount speakers, the side surround I was thinking of putting directly over the couch about 4 feet apart. And then about 4' behind the couch I would put the rear surrounds about 7' apart.

I've seen lots of speaker placement suggestions for ceiling mount, but none with my high ceilings. I may need to widen placement since the sound will spread a lot wider at that height than at 8' or even 10'.

Thanks in advance for any help. I have attached a picture of the floor plan and placement. 9gzgt47atgo0.jpg

Doesn't look too shabby to me, the couch looks a tad off center from the TV though but I get you have to work with what you have. Any particular reason you want the center channel over the TV and not under ? How high will that placement be ?

I see also it's a recessed unit that you plan on building in. Are you planning on having the 7's inside this recessed area ? That wouldn't be optimal for their sound.

Couch placement maybe to far from the TV/front speakers...IMHO

I don't know for sure, but seems like the side surrounds directly over the couch and that close together wouldn't be optimal.

    Spread them out a bit?
