    Tests were conclusive that he has the classic form of PKU... further blood work shows his levels are dangerously high. On Saturday, he will be placed on that horribly restrictive diet for at least the first seven to ten years of his life.

    My sister in law, and my wife are not taking this new well at all. Nooshin will be traveling in the morning to spend some time with her.

    Human trials are not yet up but gene therapy seems to be the path to attack it.

    That link Tony, is 12 years old but thanks just the same. I do believe a cure is out there for this, as it seems to be one of the more curable genetic disorders.

    Yeah man, you'd think they would have made some headway on it though. Research takes time and the process can be drawn out, especially when someone you love could benefit.

    My thoughts are to look into it earlier than later, while the young man's body is still forming and changing. Seems to me it might be more adaptable to changes like gene therapy at a younger age.

    God speed and good luck, hopefully you can do something to make the youngsters life more manageable and enjoyable.
