Yes, despite how great these speakers sound there is no secret that they are large by today's standards and so a tough sell, particularly in a major metropolitan city where space is a premium. They are also nearly 50lbs each making them both difficult to safely package and expensive to ship. But that does not diminish their exceptionally good sound or good looks. Add to the mix that just about anyone under 35 has little appreaciotion for hifi as they grew up using portable electronics and listening to music from tiny low fidelity speakers (headphones) in noises environments and so don't really care about or know about how good things could sound. So I appreciate you wishing me luck with the sale. If I was desprate to sell I would just part them out, but being my first pair of speakers I would love to see them find a new and appreative home.

Yes, Advent is Advent. Heny Kloss's post AR, post KLH venture, geared mostly at developing and marketing a 'big screen' projection TV. Advent also introduced one of the first "truly [relatively speaking] hifi" cassette decks with Dolby NR, the Advent 201. The original 201 had an OEM transport (maybe electronics, too?) made by Nakamichi and were, apparently, very unreliable. Advent switched to a Wollensak transport and those decks sort of springboarded the whole "hifi cassette recorder" era.
The Original Large Advents were extremely popular especially in the Northeast in the early to mid 1970s. They have a pretty typical "New England sound" and benefit greatly from replacement of the crossover capacitors.

My first brand new pair of speakers were Advents purchased in 1977 or 78. The large Advents in the cheaper cabinet, not beveled. Wonderful speaker at the time. The best way to predict the future is to invent it.

Known in the parlance as "[Original] Utility Advents". There're a pair in the basement waiting for me to refoam them, truth be told.
There's a pretty good omnibus thread @ audiokarma to help identify the nigh-on stupefying array of almost-the-same-but-not-quite Advent models over the years and ownerships of the brand name:

Back in the 70s my sister wanted a good stereo so I told her to buy a HK receiver, AR turntable, Shure cartridge, and Advent speakers. In those days Radio Shack ICs and speaker wire were used. Anyways, it sounded great.
