2 Polk PSW505 vs. 2 SVS CS+

Let me first say that I am probably Polk's #1 fan when it comes to bass and I have 2 PSW505's corner loaded, stacked at reference, blah blah blah, so I am basically maximizing what Polk has to offer. Well, tonight I took my reference DVD's over to Hbomb's. First we watched the highway wreck scene from Final Destination 2.
JESUS H EFFEN BASS!! Wow! Everything that they say about SVS is true. Harder and deeper, its that simple.
Then we watched the first 10 minutes of Matrix Reloaded, my other reference. GOD D@mn!!
Next was Omaha beach landing on Saving Private Ryan; I don't need to explain now, do I?
Finally, we watched a burned DTS version of Undercover Brother, and I heard bass that I've never heard before.
So, there you have it. From a diehard Polk bass suporter, I have seen the SVS light, and I like it.
Regards,
PolkThug.

Hbomb,
The PolkThug has landed. Solid.
Thanks again for a great time, and thank your sheri for me too.

To be fair - Henry's bass rig costs quite a bit more than what you paid for the twin 505's.
Still, they don't call SVS The Bass Authority for nuttin'. You should hear the PB2-Ultra - even my eyes bug out at times, and I'm about as jaded as it gets when it comes to good bass.
Polk is steadily improving its subs, but is still constrained by demographics, cost structure, bean counters, size/weight, etc. Just looked at the short-lived 100 pound dual driver PSW1200 as an example of where Polk tried to go with subs. It just didn't sell well, otherwise I'm sure they would have kept it going."What we do in life echoes in eternity"

True. I think he's got about 400 more continuous watts. My 2 BASH 300's vs. Samson 1000. So probably comparing to some different SVS's would have been more fair. -
So PolkThug, now that you've "seen the light," when are you planning on upgrading and what are you gonna get? My PB1-ISD replaced a PSW450 and the improvement is indescribable. Erik at SVS had recommended that I get a 20-39 PC+ or PB2-ISD because my HT room is so large; even so Ive been very happy with the PB1 so far.Mains: Polk RT800i

For now I'll have to settle for what I got, which by the way does sound pretty darn good. I've got some major expenses this year including a wedding and reception to pay for. If I do upgrade it will have to be at least to the magnitude of Hbomb's rig.
However, I'll never forget the "SVS Experience". And I'm sure Hbomb is out looking for a copy of Final Destination 2 this weekend

Like you'll never be back at the HBomb's;) Dude I had a real good time last night and your welcome any time!
and to Echo what our good Doc pointed out... its comparing apples and oranges, both are good but I'll munch an orange anytime.
BTW Toby how did you like Russmans 15TL's? I think they are the bomb but am real interested in your thoughts.
I have to get out of this office... Life is SUCK right now!

Oh come on, where are your priorities? I was wondering how the 505s sounded (a lot more power than most of the other Polk subs). You're probably only missing the real low stuff, right?Mains: Polk RT800i

I've got some other threads on the 505's if you dig a little. I can still hit the really low stuff, its just at lower db's. The 505's have a very clean sound, no complaints here.
Hbomb:
It was very cool to hear the 15's and the other pair of older Polks. They still sound fantastic, not muddy at all, my first impression was that they must have some really good cross-overs in them. Also Henry is having fun with some different configurations on his 2 channel rig. We did some listening tests at what I believe was "half-twin"
Thanks again for all the food and drink! We will meet again soon, its BBQ weather!!
Grrr.. I'm getting ready to go into work, stupid weekend upgrades...
