TODAY I GOT MY SVS...

YAY

So I turn back on my amps.........all seems good

I turn on the tv to watch a lil tv in pro logic. Center sounds soft? WTF? So i check it out........the right channel in the 535 II is out. As the left already was (it was the one my dad let me use)...

So then I just say eff it, turn on phantom center on the preamp....

So then I watch a movie, thinking all is well.

Wrong.

I turn on 2 channel music, something isnt right? The right channel RTi70 isnt playing? WTH?

Right channel ont he 545 II is out!!! _(#$_)@)%(#%!!!!

I opened up the 545 II, no lose wiring. No blown fuses, no melted boards. NOTHING.

I turn on my amps, and 2 channels are shot...

The Upside -

1) Down to 3 amps, no center (big improvement over the Klipsch, much clearer).
2) The 545 II with one channel can be a surround amp since surrounds are mono anyways.

This has been my day. It has SUCKED.

Have a nice day!

Sorry to hear it. I'm hoping it's just something minor.

Luckily my procrastination has postponed your shipment of tested cables. I didn't do it.

    ....*blinks slowly* ok...

    Anyways,

The problem is something I cant figure out. And I dont even wanna guess how much it would cost. So the 545 II will just have to live with surround duty.

Sorry to hear that Sid. After looking at your system showcase, I can say that I'm 90% sure it's from stacking your amps. If the heat buildup doesn't kill the amp right away, it will shorten their lifespan. Heat is the biggest enemy of solid state equipments. Transistors get f#cked up from heat. Even being too warm will cause leakage current. Do you have room in the back of the rack to install some small fans?

The same thing kept happening to my friend's Yammi receiver. He used to provide only abot 2" of space on the top and he would have to take it in for repairs many times. One day we re-arranged everything and gave the receiver about 6" of clearence and the problem never returned. He's still using it right now.

Well, I leave my amps off -- I only run 2 amps most of the time.

My Dad's Adcom's lasted about 10 years in a SMALL enclosed area except for front/back venting.

I don't understand how that could be the cause here. But it might.

I am down to three amps now in my rack. So heat shouldnt be that much of a problem.

Again, I opened up the 545 -- Everything was in top order, it just......didnt work.

The boards, fine, everything on the board, fine. Wires, good - caps, great. Everything looked exactly like the opposite side. It is a mystery. No fuses are caught. It has 2 on the board alone. The protection circuit isnt on. It just boggles my mind man...

The 535 II that died, my Dad put that one on its last leg 10 years ago! LOL! I dunno how, but he turned on the protection circuit and then some...lol

but heat could have been some, I have some fans but they are noisy
