You usually get them with a slice of cowpie.
I don't see the issue here...Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!! -
I'm always ordering crab cakes from Maryland, Oysters from Washington state on the other coast. West coast has the best Oysters hands down.
actually I have, still prefer the west coast oysters. Not that the Cape Cod ones were bad by any stretch. Maybe it's the extra radiation in the west coast oysters, I dunno, but my pee is florescent yellow if that matters after eating them.HT SYSTEM-

I'm jealous of me now.....I was watching the Movie "Sully" today and they mentioned a restaurant called Del Frisco's. It got my curiosity going, so I checked on it and found this menu list for dinner. Looks like it's right up my alley.

Normally for meals that are of the same caliber, we have to travel about an hour and a half toward Greenville SC to get to Chop House '47. I LOVE that place!!!
http://chophouse47.com/menu/
Funny story about that place. I was hungry one day while traveling to Greenville for something, so me and a friend of mine stopped in. Looked like a "decent" place to eat from the outside.
We get in and I can't see anything. It was an extremely sunny day outside and their interior lighting was.....rather dim. I held my hands in front of me after walking in just so I didn't hit anything. That kind of dim.
So we sat down, ordered a Coke and a menu was placed at our table. Now, keep in mind, this was a LONG time ago and I wasn't as, shall we say, set financially as we are now (read just above poor). I looked at the prices and was a little taken back. I had only been to one high end restaurant prior to this and that was paid for by someone else (wedding reception), so basically I was a virgin to high end food pricing.
I wanted crab cakes because I had been told that any crab cake under $20 wasn't real crab or done up right. So I ordered them and asked what sides it came with. The waiter looked at me with a somewhat puzzled face and told me that it came with a homemade remoulade sauce and parsley for garnishment.
Feeling frustrated, I asked her again. What sides do the crabcakes come with? The waiter once again looked at me kinda funny and said, "sir, the crabcakes are all the meal comes with. That's what you get. Your side dishes have to be purchased separately".
At the time, my jaw hit the floor.
So I ordered some mushrooms and green beans for what at the time amounted to an additional $18 or so. So, I'm already up to $50.00 and I wanted an adult drink. Ugh.
Long story short, I did order two adult drinks (adding yet another $20 to the price of lunch) and B'd and moaned quietly to my friend about how much all this was gonna cost me. Of course, I kept quiet when the wait staff walked by but was constantly discussing why a meal would cost so daggum much.
Until I took my first bite.
All my worries in life simply melted away and they did not charge me enough. It was simply one of the best meals I have ever eaten in my life. Every last bit of the mushrooms, green beans and the crab cakes were mouthwateringly delicious. I tipped well and thanked the staff for a wonderful meal and excellent experience.
Now I go back as often as I possibly can and I have referred many a person to that restaurant. My high end taste buds were born that day and I'm always looking for professional cooks that can offer up an experience like I did that day.
Only once in my life have I asked to see the chef. It was some restaurant in Chattanooga, Tennessee down toward the river and I ordered a shrimp and grit dish. Yeah, the cost was around $20-25 or so but once again, they didn't charge me enough when I took my first bite. Loved that dish so much that the family went back 2 days later before we flew out. No shrimp and grits has come close since. Not even remotely close.
I live for dishes like these.
Hopefully Del Frisco's can deliver me what Chophouse 47 has over the years.

Good story Tom. I know most frown at prices, I have in-laws that judge food by how much you get for x price, not necessarily quality of what you get.
Once you have good quality food, seasoned and prepared right, you'll wonder about the crap you've been eating, and why. Life is too short to eat garbage and drink crap. Granted, most can't eat good like that on a regular basis, but treat yourself when you can. It may make you go home and start your own garden, cook more yourself.
Tom,
If you have that appreciation for food, get your rear end to Italy. Food is so cheap, wine too, and the quality will blow your mind....scenery isn't too shabby either.HT SYSTEM-

Perhaps when the threat of terrorist activity dies down a little more than it currently is at right now. I do appreciate a fine meal and at this point am willing to pay top dollar for one but I'm not willing to die for one.....if you know what I mean. *winks*

Italys simple kitchen rules.
The size of the mortadella blows. My mine.
When I come back from Verona with a suitcase full of wine and gingerino it is a heavy load.

Italy doesn't have a terrorist problem Tom, lol Least no more than we do here. Does that stop ya from going out to eat, enjoy a ball game, go to a concert ?
France and Germany can be sketchy I'll agree, not Italy/Spain. Get your culture thing on....while you can.HT SYSTEM-

Oh, my bad. I thought I read about a bombing, a gun cafe' attack, people rioting and someone at an airport causing a ruckus. Perhaps I'm getting my countries mixed up. I've only been outside of the US once in my life (Mexico for our honeymoon), so I really don't pay that much attention.
I'm just a happy audiophile redneck. I'm not worldly.
