I would like speakers or advice to expand my SRT system from 5.1 to 7.1. Any help would be appreciated.

Which surrounds are you already using for 5.1 ? The SRT or RT or LS F/X's (i.e. Bi/Dipole) ? or the SRT SDA Surrounds ? or something else ?

    Bill,

BTW ... Welcome to the Polk Forum's ...

Well there are several choices ...

You could get another pair of LS f/x's which show up fairly regularly on eBay ... or ...

You can get a pair of SRT SDA Surrounds which I've never seen on eBay or Audiogon except as part of a full set of SRT's. However these are still being sold by Polk combined with another controller although these are not inexpensive ... or ...

If you're a total wild man you could of course get another set of mains ... or ...

The fx500's or 1000's MAY work as well. These show up less frequently although a pair of 500's came and went here the other day.

Additionally you could look through the service and parts section here for other speakers that use similar tweeters to the SRT mains or LS f/x's as there are several which would probably serve well depending on how much impact you want and how much space you have in the rear. The best choices in something larger probably include:

    - RT16 or RT20p both of which utilize the SL6501's as does I believe the RT2000p and RT2000i.

    - LS series (50/70/90), RTA15's

How long have you had your set and what are your impressions of them i.e. good & bad points etc.

Thanks for the advice. I have had the SRT system for about seven years. I have only good things to say about them relative to performance. The controller failed during the second year but Polk immediately sent me a new one overnight at no charge. Great service!!

Very nice system, good suggestions mentioned by SRT fan, PW. I have nothing to add, except post some pictures for us :) Happy listening!

Hi, I currently use a pair of RT2000i in the rear, I found them to be better than the SDA rears that can be bought, the full range of frequency response is great and they really have a lot of impact. My cousin also has an SRT system and we flatted togeather for a year or so and combined systems having SRTs front and rear WOW.......
In regard to side channels I found the FX1000s to be a better match than the LXi series as the tweeter and midrange drivers are more compatable as is the cross over frequency blending in with the warmth more rather than the bright sound the LXi have.
    Hope this helps
    Brody:)
