Just got home from a viewing of Hell Boy...

IMO there's a new leader in the comic book turns movie clubhouse. Solid story, great action/ FX, great sound. Yes, this one is gonna work your sub's.

Ron Perlman is very, very good in the title role.

Kinda surprised myself. Thought I'd like it, but not this much. It was pretty damn funny in spots and even moving in a couple...

Never read the comic books and maybe that's an advantage.

And, oh yeah, the wife really liked it as well.

EDIT: I've been a Perlman fan since "Quest for Fire". Even liked him in "Aliens Learn to Swim" or whatever the name of that one was. Not easy for a fellow with his looks to get a leading man role, but I'll bet there's at least one more HB in his future.

Based off the trailer dvd at BB, it's going to kill a lot of cheap subs.

Agreed; I have the full blown DD-EX trailer on the SWAT DVD and it's KILLER for bass.

I saw it opening night but declined to mention it for fear of being blasted.

I read the comics books, not all of them but a good portion of them so I had a good idea of the Hellboy story.

I liked the movie too. Not necessarily as much as Tour2ma did but it was a cool movie nonetheless. I suppose my previous knowledge of teh story has something to do with that.

As far as action movies go, it was up there among the best for reasons already mentioned. However, I was displeased with how fast the plot moved through sections where a large amount of character development could have taken place and didn't but really should have. There was alot to the story that the movie missed and it actually detracted from the overall plot. Hellboy's origins were not full explained nor was the threat they were fighting against in the movie. His girl's story was so poorly presented that alot of people had no clue who she was or what she was about.

Aside from the plot holes from the original story, i recommend going to see it.

DVDfile is reporting that the 2-disk SE is going to street in July 27th.

Also, awhile back del Toro said that a 3-disk SE will be coming out at years end with 20 minutes of added footage.

Man, looks like I'm the only one so far to disagree on this flick. Didn't like it at all - thought it was kinda silly. But hey, that's just me. I actually liked The Punisher better, but please don't slam me for that. ;)

Sorry, I disagree as well just never got around to posting. Hellboy was enjoyable but average, and exactly as you said Punisher was such a better comic book movie!

Ron Perlman..........that name sounds like the character that played either Darth Maul in SW or the smoke character in X2.......are either of those him?

Edit: Just did a search......poor ****......wonder if he thinks he looks better in HELLBOY costume or regular life... lol......that's not right.......

What are the other 2 Ron's up top though......(they are Ron's, true?)
