Eh, I guess I'll answer it seriously. I just hooked up the cable to my receiver. I have component cables running from the VCR to the receiver. No digital cable for us, so we get no digital channels or signals. I have tried each of the surround settings (DTS & PL2, cinema and music) and have found PL2 cinema to be the best sounding. Second to that would be DTS Neo Cinema. I would say PL2 is a significant contributor to enjoying TV now. It either makes little difference, or a pretty good surround simulation. I would say it has yet to distract from the normal stereo sound from a show. The thing I enjoy most is having a subwoofer now to go with TV. I have yet to try surround with broadcast sports, but I imagine it might be fairly interesting.

Watch HDTV via off-air HDTV tuner. Sony VVEGA (XBR400 36" flat) is HDTV ready. The TV has six inputs two which are 16:9 ratio. TV also great for watching DVDs.

Direct TV coax >VCR>TV(RF input only). DVD>VCR(line input1) with TV on CH3. Till I uprgrade my TV that is the only way to enjoy all my HT.
SAT audio toslink connection to receiver and DVD digital coax to receiver.
90% of the time I use DDPLII movie mode for broadcast TV and downloaded movies. I use Cinema mode B for some DVDs. It depends on what my receiver gets for a signal.

    My system is very basic:

    1. Dish Network satelite box fed through a Monster Cable THX series s-video cable (for picture) and Monster Cable toslink fiber optic (for sound) into the video "2" input of an old Panasonic 32."

    2. My video "1" input is fed from a Sony DVP through Monster Cable THX series component video cables for picture and I am running a Monster Cable toslink for sound.

Just an observation: I am really surprised at how many people state they use coax somehwere in their system. I barely remember coax, I have not used it in my video system since 1986. I remeber the very last time I used a coax and the time I first switched to a composite video cable, it was Sept. 1986, since then I have never used coax again.

In my case I was referring to the audio path, which is what I thought the question was ... not the video path.

The digital cable box has o/p's for digital coax which would go direct to preamp/receiver for sound processing.
