Original Monitor 5 with Peerless Tweeter (and 1 amp fuse). Any idea where I can get crossovers re-capped in DFW area? Bought MW6503 or replace MW6500 thinking the speaker was problem...apparently not!

I assume it sounded the same with the MW6503. Is the crackle coming from the tweeter or the MW? Sadly I think that sounds like it could be a blown tweeter diaphragm, but it could be that something got in the pin hole, or it might be a bad resistor in the crossover.
I assume everything else, cabling, other speakers, etc. sound fine with the equipment you are using.
@westmassguy on this forum does crossover rebuilds, but you would need to ship to the east coast.
If you need a tweeter, someone here may have one, otherwise ebay is the best bet for a peerless tweeter.
Some pictures of the speakers may help, since there are some minor variations of the early Monitor 5's.
