TEAC AI-2000 Distinction Integrated Amp

Fellow Polkies,

Offering up my Teach AI-2000 Integrated Amplifier. Can be considered "Esoteric Lite" as Esoteric engineers were "consulted during the design process", whatever that means. The AI-2000 is a dual mono design, 125 WPC at 8ohm and 180WPC at 4 ohm. It is really a remarkable sounding unit at this price point.

I bought as a demo from an authorized dealer (Spiritsound in the NE), I used it a few months before stepping up to the flagship in this line, the AI-3000. The 3000 is better, but not twice as good (as the price might suggest). It is a shame these did not catch on, as they really are great sounding pieces. This one is in great shape save for a few minor scratches on the top plate from its former demo life. Face is pristine. Comes with remote and original packaging and power cord.

Asking 600+ shipping. Local pickup in the Annapolis/Baltimore/DC area is available and encouraged. I was planning on holding onto this as I doubt I'll find the same performance/dollar ratio again but I don't foresee myself building another 2 channel in the near (or distant) future.

    Ahh ita a dual mono design though. I could buy it but it would sit and collect dust till I get a dreadnought. Super sleek integrated at a great price GLWTS!

    I do believe based on what my DMM tells me, that it is still common ground as the negative outputs have continuity when read with my DMM

    That's a beautiful integrated Zach. Surprised it's still here. If I had the cash (and the need) I'd have bought it. I considered a lower model Teac when I set up our living room stereo (ended up getting the Jolida FX-10 for the looks and to try tubes).

    Anyone on the fence, buy with confidence from Zach. He babies his gear. I bought his Oppo 103 a few months ago and I swore it was never used.

    Thanks Al, really hoping this moves. I am usually fine with just continually lowering the price until it sells, but not on this one. Too nice of a piece to give it away, it is a damn steal at the price I'm selling for. They just don't move well on the used market.

    The Teac came today and I unpacked everything and fired it up! working just fine! Thanks again!

    I hooked it to my 705's & Marantz SACD & the Auralic Mini/DAC and gave it a spin.

    At first I thought it sounded a little veiled and didn't have the weight and drive of my vincent setup but that is a $3000 setup for preamp + Amp. so I left it playing while i did some choirs and fix a green power jucier drink.

    I came back after 40 minutes and the sound had change big time- The TEAC had warmed up - and was sound great and starting to show off what it can do ;) and was giving my Vincent a run for its money...

    Vanesss Fernadez likes the TEAC and she was singing her ...off :) it is a lot bigger then I thought nice heavy weight to it. looks Excellent too.

    I'm impressed now that it had time it needed to Warm up & I will spend the weekend playing with it and giving a full work out, had my 705's running about 75-85 dbl's and it was handling it nicely.

    Glad to hear you are enjoying the TEAC Darryl. I haven't had much high end stuff to compare it to, but I truly think the Distinction series amps are steals especially at the used prices you can get them at. If anyone runs across the 3000, give it a shot. They are available at a little over the 1k pricepoint.

    It is a sweet little Integrated amplifier Zach! Seems to have plenty of power when needed. It just needed a little Warm up like all amps do and then it wakes up and puts on a show!

    It the same with my Vincent it seems a hour into my listen sessions with the Vincent it keeps getting better.

    I plugged it in with the Voodoo Ultra-wave power cord and Acoustic Zen IC's & Speaker cables and it seems to be very happy ;)
