Question Fitbit vs Garmin

Hey who owns either a Fitbit or a Garmin fitness tracker? We get a discount through work on both brands the best deal I can get is a Fitbit Charge 2 for $99 shipped the Garmin equivalent for $119.00. The company has a be in shape tick going and we can save on insurance costs if we meet a certain criteria.

Anyhow I signed up for the get fit credit and should meet the criteria once I lose about 10lbs
I should be a shoe in for that credit. So who has either a Fitbit or a Garmin your opinions will help me make my choice on what fitness tracker to get.

Go Fitbit, it is the industry standard. Piece of cake to download, and good support if you need it.

From My experience the fit bit is very inaccurate. As an example my mother in law sits on the couch drinking wine and still manages to get 10,000 steps in a day. I wore a Nike fuel band for a while, and I would just do 10,000 working in a dealership the size of a football field,10 hours a day, followed by 2 hours of martial arts training.

There is something very wrong with your in laws Fitbit. We don't have that issue with ours, but none of them are anywhere 100% accurate no matter the brand. Usually companies only give you a couple choices with Fitbit always being one of them.

A few of my friends have them that also pointed out they don't seem to be accurate. Just an observation as I haven't owned one. My sister also worked for sport check as a regional merchandise manager, she would go

Of their inaccuracy as well, (she is also a certified personal trainer). Only giving my two cents as they say.

Bottom line is either would accomplish the job of getting your discount.

The Garmin is a Vivosmart +HR I can go up a few tiers as I get 40% discount on those to brands only, but don't really need GPS as I'm pretty sure of my where abouts. I don't run, biking, walking, and lifting weights is the only excercise I do besides swimming but neither of the two I'm looking at are waterproof.

I did read some unfavorable reviews on the older model of the fit bit, but the reviews for the charge 2 are all pretty positive. I do want some accuracy however that's why I have questions. If I can clock in 10,000 steps tossing back a few cold ones then that don't sound to accurate to me. If going up a model or two will bring more accuracy perhaps I should check them out.

I have the Garmin Vivosmart HR+ and I like it a lot, excellent battery life, of course more consumption based on the amount of activities tracked. I like it a lot, though the BT can be just a bit buggy at first setup. I like it a lot honestly! Also I think the Vivosmart HR+ is waterproof (in the water resistant to 5M sense), it is advertised as being able to swim with and has a swim function.

Well went with the Fitbit Charge 2 gunmetal, I was leaning more towards the Garmin as the reviews were favorable but apparently the band's are not replaceable so once they break your SOL. So a gunmetal charge 2 it is.
