Yeah it's nice and cool this time of the year. And it's a little less sardines like than during peak season of Christmas.

Yesterday at Magic Kingdom, we didn't have to stand in lines either because we had a VIP Guide which I recommend especially if you have little ones because inevitably they fall apart waiting 1.5 hours for Dumbo.

Plus we got backstage entrance to all characters (though Emma got too close to Mickey) and was a little suspicious of Tinkerbell.

In addition you get a private viewing area for fireworks so you're not stuck battling the crowds... A real plus as trying to wrangle a toddler while standing in a spot for 45 minutes is insane... After dinner it was 755pm, fireworks was at 8p and while others had been waiting in a standing room only area for the past 45 minutes, our guide led us to a secured garden where there were I think 4 families and we had a small 12'x12' pad of green to stand and sit in. Truly awesome.

Plus we got to enter and exit away from the crowds and be picked up (to and from hotels) and driven back via unmarked private cars. So no waiting in monorails it buses.

Highly recommended if you travel into Disney if you want to keep your sanity.

Plus, it's a lot easier to park hop and avoid the security lines and bag check via the VIP Tour Guides... We could do Epcot rides and then sneak over to Hollywood and back to Magic Kingdom in one day all going through the backlots and via private cars.

Btw the back lot of the Disney parks is heavily guarded, it's got this metal wall that pops up at car checkpoints.

Well, that is why we work.

However, at the end of the day with a Disney trip all you have are memories. At least with stereo gear you have that experience day after day after day. Then again, sometimes memories can surpass the real world.

    Bring on The Matrix. :)

Joey... Dude, you need to get yourself a better camera! :p

Awesome place and great time of year to go. We used to go in January. Definitely the lowest crowd time. Looks like you all are having a great time! Enjoy the vacation.

The guide thing sounds awesome, but we make the most of our time if we decide to wait on longer lines. We look for hidden Mickeys, take in all the subtle details they build/design into the queue areas, play Disney Trivia Heads Up, people watch. Sometimes those can be some of our best bonding times.

Is the little guy not with you on this visit? How you liking the Contemporary? Top of the World Lounge (I think that's what it's called) is a great place to watch the MK fireworks. I can't remember if it's on top of the Contemporary or Bay Lake Tower...

    Have fun with the family!

    @scubalab

This is my 6th here (wife's 6th also) since we had been dating. I've never been to Disneyworld prior because my parents could not afford it but they always talked about it.

The VIP tour guide is excessively expensive to have every day, but it's great to have once or twice a vacation down here. Then the other days can be spent more leisurely, like you said... Look for hidden stuff and tour a bit more.

And yes, my iPhone 6s camera is looking pretty bad... Maybe it's all that low light.

But we enjoyed our VIP tour guide. My wife wants another one again next time we are here.

This was emmas 2nd visit. Henry is with my parents back at their house. Remember we bought them a house to be closer and to babysit easier.

We are staying at the contemporary... Top of the world is at bay lake tower (Disney vacation club).

We are headed to golden oak in an hour for a free lunch and I think they want to talk to us about their property.

Joey - You're right. When we met my cousin at the contemporary, we did go across to BLT and I remember him having to sign us all in. He is a Vacation Club owner.

Disney is great, especially with kids. Our girls are a little older than Emma and Henry, but we've been taking them since they were 5 and 3. Think we've been to WDW 5 or 6 times with them and once to Disneyland. I went once when I was 5, but don't remember much. My wife and I (girlfriend at the time) went right after college and HATED it. With kids though, we absolutely love it. We do things at a laid back pace, and make the most out of it whether it's jam packed, poor weather, or perfect conditions. Life's too short to not find joy in the time we're together!

I don't even want to venture a guess at what the going rate for the VIP guide is. I'm sure it's a tad out of our price range, LOL.

As for Golden Oak... Wow - awesome place. A very good friend of mine stays there several times a year. His In-Laws bought/built one of the biggest floorplans in the community and live there half of the year. Their place is like a resort from what I hear and have seen in the pictures. When you get set up with a place there, I'd expect to see a Polkfest or two there!

And, I was just bustin' ya on the phone! Enjoy the rest of the vacation man!

No worries man, glad to talk to another Disney aficionado!

Unlike most, we actually enjoy Disney and we enjoyed it MORE before we started bringing Emma.

I always wanted to be a Disney vacation club member and was close but decided against it and instead will do inspirato (www.inspirato.com).... You should check it out, it's like Airbnb on steroids plus cocaine.

Regarding Golden Oak, they wooed us this time, I think they vette you to make sure you can afford it...before they invite you back or something. They treated us to a free lunch and gave us several free park tickets.... Basically they saved us $3000 this trip via comps.

They also paid for our VIP guide (which was cool because we were about to book one). They are costly at approximately $400/hr with a minimum of 7 hours, plus tax, and tip.

I ended up enjoying the VIP guide that I wanted to make sure she took home a great tip... Which was already costly in it of itself (think 1/2 of a lsim703).... Hahaha

But we shall see if we buy at Golden Oak. We toured today and while it is gorgeous... The costs can be tremendous.

My biggest issue is that I can't rent it out when I'm not here... And we come only once a year. It's tough to justify that kind of a mortgage or investment. The annual appreciation is approximately 3%... Which doesn't even begin to cover the costs of hoa and club fees ($25,000/yr). Not to mention property taxes for that property.

It only makes sense if you live here full time or near full time.

It's different from property I saw in Maui at he Waldorf. Price is same... But it is rentable through Waldorf which means your recoup property tax and annuals (hoa etc). Plus the appreciation is through the roof per annum.
