Generation and genre play a huge part in what is considered iconic I suppose. I think of something iconic as going beyond normal boundaries (such as generation/genre). For example, Ron mentioned an Iron Maiden cover. Though I'm not a fan of Iron Maiden or that type of music in general, I instantly recognize the album cover. Same goes for The Clash...I'm not a big fan, but I know that album cover. There are at least a dozen covers mentioned that I've never seen before. I guess I'm not as "with it" as I thought I was
