I need a pair of decent over the ear headphones for travel, since I sometimes have a difficult time dealing with humanity. If there were an actual space helmet with visor and built in speakers so I dont have to interact with people at all when I travel, that would be superb. No Beats or related crap like that.... any recommendations?

Beyerdynamic DT-770 32 ohm.
Wear mine for 10+ hours, no sweat or hot ears. Not much clamp force so you can wear with glasses.

I like my sony mdr-a1. I bought them for that very purpose. Pretty comfortable. Excellent, neutral sound quality. Can keep em used for about $150.Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

^^ These.
I have a pair and always take them on flights. I also use them while cutting the grass. They do a decent job keeping outside noise minimized. They sound pretty good for a NC headphone - very laid back. And, I find them extremely comfortable for longer listening sessions. I don't know why Polk no longer has them for sale... only downside is they require batteries and cannot be used without the active noise cancellation. -
I highly recommend these. This is the second version which they improved the fit for comfort.
They are durable, and stay in place even if you have to break into a jog. They are very neutral and balanced.

Disclaimer: I work for Bose.
I have the UF8000's, and now also own Bose QC15's and QC25's.
Pros on the Polks:
- have more bass and overall sound quality.
- Uses a flat cord that seems never to get tangled.
- Less expensive
Pros on the Bose:
- ANR is second to none. Polks have a constant (not too noticeable) hiss.
- lighter, smaller so my head sweats less.
- The surrounds are more comfortable.
- 1AAA battery vs. Polk's 2 AAA.
- fold down so the carrying case is smaller.
So overall I prefer the Bose especially for travel. But I understand if you think I am biased.

I'm sure there are many better than the Polks. The pair I was pointing to were $85 new, and I figured that was gonna be hard to beat.
I paid $180 for my UF8000's and consider them a good value in NC with good sound. But I don't need to maximize the NC. Looks like OP may value max NC more highly than I would and very likely prefer one of the Bose that @maximillian is suggesting.b]Beach Audio[/b]: Rega RP6 (mods) - AT33PTG/II - Parks Budgie SUT - PSAudio NPC * Eversolo DMP-A6 * Topping D90iii * Joule-Electra LA-100 mkIII * Pass Aleph 30 * MIT S3 * Polk SRS 2.3tl (mods) * PSAudio PPP3

I think I paid $140 for my UF8000's about 2.5 years ago. At the time they were much cheaper than any Bose stuff I could get. Yeah, at $85 it's a no brainer too. But for heavy travel they are a little on the big side. I also have QC20 (in ear) that are very comfortable and ANR is very good too. That's what I do most of my traveling with.
My daughter uses the UF8000's at home and loves them. Wife uses my older QC15's while working out on the treadmill. The noise of the treadmill pretty much disappears so it's very comfortable listening to netflix off her tablet.
