Removing Polk rt255c speaker

I need to remove my Polk rt255c speaker to do some work behind it and it appears that the rotating cam is stuck. Any suggestions on how to get it to release?

  • Hello,
Welcome to Polk's forum. The idea behind the rotating cam-lock is that there's a plastic post that is molded into the rear of the main baffle. What is supposed to happen is that as the mounting screw is turned counterclockwise the cam hits the plastic post and it prevents the cam from turning as the screw is continued to be turned. The result is the cam moves along the thread away from the inside surface allowing the speaker to be pulled out away from the wall or ceiling. It's a pretty simple system and as long as the plastic post is still part of the frame not much can happen to prevent the cam from moving along the screw.
Are you able to see what is happening to the cam at all?
