Can I use rtia 1 or 3s for this purpose and if so is there a particular angle or is it more room size that depicts angle, if I can't use these speakers what would be better, would peter not to go into the ceiling

Hi msCritter1. I would strongly recommend using rtia 1 or 3 for the traditional horizontal channels only and in ceiling speakers for the heights.
I suppose you could experiment with bookshelf speakers by rigging them to reflect sound off the ceiling or if height permits suspending them from the ceiling shooting downwards ( I have done this my self with smaller satelite speakers) but the results will be inferior to true in ceiling speakers.
As far as angles are concerned use the guides found at dolby.com as reference. In the end you room dimensions and seating position will be your limiting factors.

Thanks, I guess in the end as the pieces start to come in, rtai 9s todays, cherry (so cool) parasound amp tomorrow (freaking awesome ) I think I'll try bouncing the sound first then look at ceiling mounts and then installation into the ceiling, didn't think about mounting on to the ceiling, this is my last setup I just want to get it as awesome as I can
