New here but not to Polk. New to vintage as well but have been researching.
This sounds like a perfect pairing. I have a small studio apartment and listen mostly to jazz. The Marantz was just cleaned and is for sale at a local and reputable hi-fi shop. The speakers are on eBay - the one woofer/no radiator model. I'm just looking for a simple setup with a warm sound.
Any opinions, warnings, etc. about what I'm getting into are appreciated.

How much space do you have to work with?
Are you planning to use stands for the speakers?
If not how do you plan to set the stuff up?
I haven't heard the 5JR, only JR+, with the passive bass radiator.
I find the 5JR+ a bit thin in the lows. Maybe some Monitor 5's or 7's if you want something a little fuller sounding? Though I think I read about a guy who rebuilt the crossovers in his 5JR+ and liked them.I disabled signatures. -
Simple and warm is what you'll have. I've listened to a 2238 run a set of 5Jr and a set of EPI 100 separately and they are both beautiful sounding setups.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

Thanks xschop.
msg - It's basically a large bedroom - with nearby neighbors - so I try to be reasonably quiet. The fuller the bass the more annoyed the neighbors.
Stands are a little unsightly. I might have to improvise there - album crates maybe? It would give me somewhere to put a new record collection.... -
Years ago I had a pair of 5a's with Peerless tweeters hooked to a small Sansui 20wpc (G2000) I think & it sounded vgood. I sure do miss that set up & how it sounded. I put em on milk crates I snagged from the local corner store..

Good stands are not unsightly and really are a requirement to get the best out of those speakers. You want the kind that can be mass loaded.Political Correctness'.........defined

thanks boston - milk crates are always a go-to
useful advice F1 - I just looked up "mass loaded" stands - I have a lot to learn... -
When all else fails, maybe put them on bookshelves.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.
