Picked up a sight unseen from across the country music hall MMF 7.1 a few weeks back. No cartridge and apparently had an issue with the motor playing too slow. I was nervous... but winged it 300$ in Canadian funds.
A week later table shows up. Packed in original box, with all accessories as new. Table didn't have any damage, just fine scratches in the piano finish... phew! Checked the motor with an RPM app and indeed was slow, it also shuttered on start up (its toast). Called up music hall, talked to the man himself (Roy), and sent me a 7.3 motor, belt, and Walwart for about 300$ Canadian shipped. I'm in business! Polished the table up with about 5 coats of car polish and looks as new.
Found another score, a NIB soundsmith otello for 275 Canadian. Sold my teac table for 300, and all in I'm at about 600$. Spend quite a few hours setting this thing up and man-o-man does this table sound good! Holy $&@?! Does it sound nice! And looks as good as it sounds.
Any other music hall owners out there?

It was me. I have a buddy with a very nice vinyl rig, and I've become friends with the owners of a shop around here (those Nottingham tables sound incredible). I lurked and lurked and jumped when the opportunity was right. Picked up a nice lounge audio lcr mkiii and I'm in heaven!

That's why I'm not in the vinyl game right now but I'm sure it's not news to anyone here. It's expensive to do right, especially if you like music made in the last 3 decades.
I do want to get into it eventually but there isn't enough $$$ to go around.

This was a "hobbyists opportunity" skip. And it's payed off. I even enjoy the fiddley-ness of it all. The part that I don't like, is now I have to start washing these black discs.
