I see it says NOS, but I see wear marks on the pins and it appears the inside of the glass is stained like a used tube. Do tubes not wear out? NOS (new old stock) means never used right?

    Thanks for the info!

I was also looking at these.

Is paying an extra $10 a pair worth it for "matched triodes"?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to buying some old tubes if that what will work better. Just want to make sure before I buy.

They test as new or better yes can have some use it's a very good seller. I can also Hook you up with good sellers who are legit. Tubes can have marks because of people testing them keep that in mind.
I have some Sylvania 5692's that have maybe 70hrs on them would you not consider them as nos? When I bought them they tested better than nos specs, I'm sure they still would.

Great choice for sure. Their 6SL7 WGT cousin is one of my favorites. FYI, the silver "stain" you refer to is the flashing. These tubes have extensive "flashing" so that's entirely normal

    Enjoy

P.s. The flashing is part of what makes the vacuum inside the glass envelope.

It came in today. Impressed with size and weight. Have it plugged in to AC but no line level yet. Just going to let it sit for awhile.

Im trying to decide if I should just wait for the NOS 6SN7 to show up before even trying it, or should I give it a go as is?

Why let it sit powered on if you're not going to use it? Use it with the stock tubes and then use the new tubes when they come in.

So far I've only played the RTA 12b with it. Have not tried the srs 2 yet. I am absolutely loving it and can't wait for the better tubes. Adding this to the signal chain has given me the sound I was looking for. I'm floored by the change in vocals.

I'll give some more details later.

    Thanks everyone for thier input.

I started into by tube journey with that exact same buffer. Tubes make a nice difference. At some point down the road you, should try a tube pre-amp. It is much, much better. There is less noise. Take your time and get comfortable with your buffer, but when you get to that point, I have the perfect pre amp for you that takes the same 6SN7 tubes. Could be had for $350 .....I'll hold it for you ..lol!

In very good shape? Absolutely. NOS? No. NOS to me means never used, brand new in box.

If you sold them to me as NOS and then later told me they had 70 hours on them, I wouldn't send them back though.

Here is a good seller I have bought many tubes from. If you do not see anything that you want just ask he usually will have something he hasn't listed. After the third set of tubes I asked if there was a returning buyer discount and from then on he would give me a 5-10% discount. I just found a listing for him I'm not promoting the tubes in this link. FWIW

Right now I have the entire room emptied. Finishing up the paint, including celing. I moved the SDA SRS 2 out into the living room where they get the space they need. Unfortunatly that also means no amp. Just an old Pioneer VSX-D912K AVR to run them. This puts the Paradigms back into the listening room with the rta12b.

Yes, I feel like I now want more tube gear.

The best 6SN7's are old stock tubes.

Have to agree with the tube master here. IF you try some Russian look for the OTK. There's a couple of sellers on eBay I've done business with from Bulgaria that get better Russian tubes. I've bought viskod 6ak5 type from as well as the 6sn7. They were very up front when i had ask why theirs were a bit more than other sellers. They had said there are a boat load of these going around but they test all theirs before listing. Others just pull them out of the cases and sell. According to them as much as half the cases are just junk straight out of the box. I sold my viskods to two here and the buyers were very happy. One of the best 6ak5 tubes made, so I believed what they had told as far as the quality of the tubes. One must remember back in the old Soviet Union it was all about quantity over quality and testing was very lax at best.
    Still enjoying them :)
