New Marantz Arrived Early

Well Hello,

My new refurb Marantz SR5010 arrives early, I was not thinking it would be her this soon. Problem is I can't put it in yet.

I am building a new entertainment center and the wife is a little pissed about it. She said the one I built a few years ago was fine (my pic) So I can't just pop in a new receiver just yet.

I don't know what she is pissed about this one is amazing

Oh yeah, have dreams of an Oppo and an Amp.

I still need to cut and make drawers. two for the upper left and right, one for the bottom.

    TV on top,

Left upper is for WD Live media player (ISO)
Lower left is Samsung BD player
    Sony Cinavia Free BD player
Sony ES DVD/SACD player, I keep this for CD and SACD.

Right upper is for cable box
lower right is for CD/BD/DVD binders

Okay, I'm a little confused...is the one in the pic the old one, as noted? Or, is that the new one? If it's the old, I agree. Why make a new one? Looks awesome!

    What wood did you use?

This is the old onef1vjn4bao9rb.jpg built it using a borrowed old Ryobi table saw and my old skill saw from the 80's. Wood is lowe's oak junk plywood I had edge dress the crud out of it to hide the imperfections. Stained in kona with a matte top coat. All the shelves are in place by 1/4" runners

I have learned a lot over the last couple of years and saved for some nice tools. Delta table saw, Chop saw, Porter Cable Cordless, a lot of stuff from Harbor Freight too. Routers, Clamps.

I found some good wood yards that won't rape me for wood. Most of these guys are good to deal with and know their trade. This is where I was turned onto Baltic Birch. Not the best of wood but it stains well with the right stain and does not need to be edge dressed if it's not wanted.

The new one is baltic birch in cherry, no edge dressing needed. This thing is heavy, 1 & 2/3 5'X5' sheets of 18mm 1/2 sheet of 12mm and 1/2 sheet of 6mm for the back. I want say the cost. someone said they would trade me an Oppo for one. All the shelves are Dado cut all the upper are biscuit joined.

I am in SoCal (Chula Juana) if anybody want's me to or needs help building one.

I so want to put in my new receiver but need to complete this and install both at once.

A BDP-103 would do just nicely. It would look good with my receiver.
