For Sale: Marantz NR1403 AVR -$175 shipped

This has been a great AVR for my master bedroom setup. I had a custom entertain center built and needed something shallow, and this fit the bill perfectly. I finally decided to pony up the dough for a pre/pro with HDMi (which is also shallow) so this is up for sale>

Main Specs:
5.1 channel
50 WPC
6 HDMI 1.4 inputs
Audyssey MultEQ
2.1 pre outs (this was the other main reason I purchased this, I wanted an external amp with my mains)

Despite the NR moniker, this is not network capable. This is a no-frills, great sounding 5.1 channel receiver.

Here is nice review: http://www.avrev.com/home-theater-av-receivers/av-receivers/marantz-nr1403-nr1603-av-receivers-review.html

I have the original remote and setup mic. I can't find the box or manual, but the manual is available online, and I will pack this extremely well as I always do.

ONLY ISSUE. This has a dent on the back panel. It was damaged in shipping, but its worked perfectly for me for over a year. I'll let you test it out for a couple weeks, and if there is a problem just ship it back to me for a full refund.

$175 Fedex ground CONUS. Please cover paypal fees.

I'm tempted to pick this up for my daughter since her stereo just gave up the ghost, but bad timing for me.

Understand @PSOVLSK. Probably bad timing for lots of folks, but surely someone needs a sweet sounding little AVR!

Well, I can't find any bench test on this model or other NR14XX models, but I can tell you that I ran this in a medium sized room (large master bedroom) with NHT M5s (which present a moderately difficult load based on John Atkinson's measurements), and the mains were run off an external amp and the center off the AVR. The few times I cranked a blu ray, I never perceived any problem with the center keeping up.

Obviously inefficient speakers in a large room? This is not the right choice. Efficient speakers in a small-medium sized room? This will serve you well.

Speakers aren't inefficient by any means (signature) but I have yet to get an external amplifier for the mains. Let me talk to the fiancee and see how much I have open to spending after getting paid Friday.

Hey Willow, I agree with Paul that the chromecast audio would be a fine solution as well. Personally I think it's better than a network receiver (my Marantz pre in our HT is network ready). With my Marantz, it's nice, but you have to be in front of the tv to navigate the menus.

I also have a chromecast audio connected to a little Jolida FX-10 and I use my phone stream music from Spotify, Amazon, etc. Imagine having a remote right in your pocket! I'll be in another room, pull the phone out of my pocket and change the songs, the volume, etc. I wouldn't let the lack of wifi on Paul's Marantz deter you.

I'll also say that Paul is a great seller. I bought my first amp from him a couple years ago. Buy with confidence from rooftop!

When you say "network ready" are you referring to Bluetooth? There are other options for Bluetooth and if hard wire is an option a simple dac will work. Network off of your computer and run a laptop USB to dac. Bypass the wireless glitches that always seem to come up.
