Replace FXi30s with RC65i/RC85i?
Hi,
I am thinking about replacing my FXi30s with RC65i or RC85i in-wall speakers, for surrounds. Also, I was thinking about using a third in-wall speaker as the rear center. Does anyone have a setup like this? Will I be disppointed with this setup vs. what I have now?
Thanks,
Ray

I think in-walls are a great idea. You will most likely have to acoustically treat the inside of the wall in some fashion. Bass response will be the first thing that you may notice, hence the acoustic comment. It could be very boomy, or non-existent, depends on the wall construction.
I plan on doing in-walls in the next house, whenever the heck that isCTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

Yes, if I decide to go with in-walls, I will be selling the FXi30s.

I think sticking with the FX's is a better idea. Better dispersion for surround effects, and better overall sound quality. Ease of upgrading is another up side. I don't think that inwalls match the sound quality of a conventional speakers.
