What did I cook

Howdy All! it's been a long time since ive been on here and since I have really played with my SDA-CRS+ I got the brilliant idea to try an Audio Control amp. i use them in a lot of installs and I did not even think about it not being a common ground amp. Since my speakers have never been touched (no upgrades).... its time! I ordered Sonicaps etc. and new binding posts. I also ordered a torroidial coil to make a dreadnought. But what damage did i do but connecting to a non common ground amp so I can address it when I start my upgrades.

Thanks!

Chris

Have you tried the speakers with a common ground amp since the "incident?"

I once connected my monoblocks to my (then) SDA SRS 1.2s with the standard SDA interconnect. When I heard the frighteningly loud POP that resulted when I turned on the amps, I was afraid I had destroyed the amps, the speakers, or both.

However, regardless of the loud noise, everything worked well when properly set up.
Family Room, Innuos Statement streamer (Roon Core) with Morrow Audio USB cable to McIntosh MC 2700 pre with DC2 Digital Audio Module; AQ Sky XLRs to CAT 600.2 dualmono amp, Morrow Elite Speaker Cables to NOLA Baby Grand Reference Gold 3 speakers. Power source for all components: Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One with dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel.

Exercise Room, Innuos Streamer via Cat 6 cable connection to PS Audio PerfectWave MkII DAC w/Bridge II, AQ King Cobra RCAs to Perreaux PMF3150 amp (fully restored and upgraded by Jeffrey Jackson, Precision Audio Labs), Supra Rondo 4x2.5 Speaker Cables to SDA 1Cs (Vr3 Mods Xovers and other mods.), Dreadnaught with Supra Rondo 4x2.5 interconnect cables by Vr3 Mods. Power for each component from dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel, except Innuos Statement powered from Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One.

  • It's all good! I rebuilt my crossovers. Waiting for tweeter for TL mod. New Jantzen 16mh inductors and I will make a new mounting plate for the crossover. May replace all the inductors, but a vendor told me I need a 200$ minimum order. I also built a dreadnouhgt to eliminate future issues

What isolation transformer did you buy?

Where did you attempt to order the inductors?

F1. i bought the original avel lindbergh dreadnought that darqnight made. i tried to purchase jantzen c core inductors from parts express. i ended up with standard jantzen perfect lay inductors from parts express. i was able to get the 16mh 18 guage wire but will have to modify the others with an lcr meter.
