New AVR Denon AVR-X4300 or Marantz SR6011

Getting a new AVR. Thinking about these two. I am getting them thru My millage account so options are limited.

Also can choose the Denon AVR-X6300 but will have to wait maybe until the end of December

Opinions

Cheers

I'd wait until the end of December and get the Denon AVR-X6300 that one's a beast for a newer Denon.

I have an older Denon 3802 that gets used occasionally. It is a nice sounding unit and easy to operate and navigate. A buddy of mine just purchased a Denon 4xxx about 18 months ago, cost about $1500 on sale, and it is the most unbelievably complicated and convoluted piece of equipment. The manual, when printed out and put in a binder, was over 200 pages. Ridiculous. Have spent several hours over several evenings trying to figure out various issues. Turned me off from them for AVR.

Well going to wait a bit longer. Probably until January just found out that they may offer the SR7011 after the new year. But not 100% for sure. I am in no rush at the moment.

    Thanks for the replies.

Cheers and Happy Christmas to all.

I have the avr-x4200w. Not complicated at all, so don't quite understand that statement. Great piece of equipment (and I downgraded for much more expensive separates). They are pretty much the same receiver so pick which one looks best to you and you can get cheaper.

With over 200 8x11 pages in the manual it's over complicated.

The manual for the SR6011 is 318, still looking around some new options have open up.

Now I am not much of a manual reading guy. I guess that also applies for asking directions....lol

I had an B&K AVP 3090 talk about a complicated unit to setup even with a manual.

    Cheers

The onscreen of my Marantz was so easy to set-up that I don't believe I've read more than 5 pages of the manual. I know it's not the 6011 but mine is 3 years old.

The Denon literally walks you through everything as you set it up to include connections. Remember marantz=Denon so they will be extremely similar in everything. Don't get wrapped around the axle on the name, the sr6xxx series is the same as the Denon x4xx series

I always liked the Denon AVR's over the Marantz but I use electrostats. On another note I love the Marantz prepro's more than the integra and onkyo.

Nice indeed. Still in the setup process. Sub-woofer output seems to be bit low. This one will retire my old Onkyo 709. It has develop a crackling noise on the right surround back channel I will see if I can fix it and will let it go very cheap. It does have a new HDMI board replaced by Onkyo on 2014.

It seems very common for auto correction systems to set the sub level very low. Every pre/receiver that I have owned I have had to manually adjust the sub up quite a bit. Audessey, ypao, accueq all do it for some reason
