Amplifier for DIY Sub

What would be the best amp for a DIY Sub? Im looking for something rated for about 250W @ 4ohms and preferably under $100. Are the plate amps at Parts Express the best way to go? Would a single channel home theater amp work? Any advice appreciated. Also if any member is looking to sell an amp let me know.
Thanks

I have the 250W Parts Express sub amp (see link) installed in my JL Audio homemade subwoofer. I just got the amp last Wednesday, and installed it.
Let me tell you what, IT ROCKS!!!! My JL Audio sub is 8 ohms, so I'm only gettng 180 watts RMS, but it don't matter. That subwoofer is so powerful, I can't even believe it. My sub weighs in at about 75 pounds, and it moves around the floor. Deep and very well controlled bass.
I can't recommend this amp enough. Act fast, PE is selling them for $128. Last week the amp had FREE SHIPPING! (I don't know if the free shipping deal is still going on)Bob Mayo, on the keyboards. Bob Mayo. -
Keep an eye on Parts Express scratch and dent page. I got the 250 watt plate amp for $90 from scratch and dent. there was nothing wrong with it. It had just been mounted, so there were some marks inside the screw holes, other than it looked brand new.Sony KDL-40V2500 HDTV, Rotel RSX-1067 Receiver, Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray, Slim Devices Squeezebox, Polk RTi6, CSi3 & R15, DIY sub with Atlas 15

Thanks,
I'm probably going to go with the PE amp.Proud SOPA Member since 2005! -
There's a sweet deal on a sub plate amp in the flea market section. I regretfully had to pass on it but not without a lot of anguish.
