IR receiver questions

Looking for a little knowledge,

I recently bought a new Yamaha RX-A2050 receiver. Really enjoying it so far. One problem I have is I had to move it do a less than optimal spot off axis from our seating area and as a result, I don't get the best reception on my remote from certain seats. I'm using an older Harmony One remote.

The new receiver has a couple of 3.5mm remote inputs in the back. So I'm planning on trying to order a simple IR receiver that plug into one of those IR extenders. So am I correct in assuming all I need is one of the little receiver buds that I can plug directly into the back jack of the receiver and stick in a better spot?

Try this,
Connect the 3.5mm cable to the cb12 output to the 3.5mm input off your stereo. Plug the DL85 into the input of the cb12, place the dl85 in a good place, like over/under the TV. Plug the 12v psu into the power connector on the cb12.
