surround sound setup
I have a set of rti12 and i am looking for a set of rear fill speakers. I like the fxi5 but i was told that a floorstanding rear will be even better. Is this true? If so, i was thinking about a set of rti8 for the rear surround. What do you guys think?

Actually a pair of bipole speakers will provide for better dispersion of the surround channels. Direct radiating speakers will cause the surround effects to by very localized and that takes away from the whole HT experience.
If your after a better multichannel music experience then 5 identical speakers placed per the Sony SACD spec's would be the way to go. -

thank you -
In a 5.1 setup the FXi5's work well as the surrounds with 12's up front.
If your contemplating a 7.1 setup then I'd keep the FXi5's as side surrounds and then you could try something direct in the back. My personal preference would be the RTi6's. However I'd also add that for the 6's to work well in the back they do need to be a fair distance behind, not directly overhead like where they'd be for example if you were watching from a couch up against the back wall. -
You're Welcome.
