Lateral move?

I am contemplating an amp purchase to possibly enhance my listening environment. I have a dual purpose set up in my living room that I like to " upgrade " every so often. My current amp, the Parasound HCA 1500a has served me well for a couple years, but I was thinking of picking up a Rotel 1095 to beef up some of my other channels. Do you guys think it's worthy of the expenditure?

    Lateral IMO.

Next common step from Parasound/B&K level seems to be McCormack.

What's powering the center and surrounds now? If it's a receiver doing that work now, the power of a Rotel 1095 would be overkill for the surrounds. The center speaker may benefit from something else.

Do you want to make sure that all of your speakers are operating to their full potential. The Rotel will achieve that.

There is no such thing as overkill when it comes to powering speakers, all of them will benefit from receiving that much power. My FXi3s are being powered by a 405wpc amp and sound terrific.

Rotel and Parasound make very good gear that isn't cheap. But if you just want to spend more money on a bigger more expensive name, only you can decide if it is worth it.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess the goal was to get my center on a level playing field with the L/R. I will ponder the expenditure while I keep the hole in my pocket from growing. I just got lured in by those massive heat sinks

Just the center ? Pick up a Marantz monoblock, they are cheap and sound decent enough.

I am kinda out of room for more separates, I was gonna ditch the parasound in lieu of the rotel

Gotcha man, replace the 2 channel amp for one with more channels, same space. Your options are wide open, but sound wise.....I'd expect the Rotel to be a bit less forgiving than the Parasound.
