Polk LSIM703 speakers and Yamaha Aventage 840?
Want to order these with the friends and family deal but, wondering after reading around if my amp is enough... I am currently using a Yamaha Aventage 840 100wpc amp. Will this be enough for these speakers? I am using Polk RTIa3 at the moment but was looking to step up to the next level as I mostly listen to 2 channel stereo.

Parasound, Nad, Adcom, Rotel, Outlaw, Sunfire are all good amps, and if you have no objection to buying used, check out www.audiogon.com to get more amp for your money.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

Will the receiver drive the speakers, yes. Will it drive them to their full potential, doubtful. However, your receiver does have preouts, so you can add a separate amp down the line.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

Any recommendations on separate amps? I found one made by crown?? seems more reasonably priced. I'M by no means an expert so I can use any and all suggestions and input. THanks for the response

The Aventage are the better Yamaha AVR's, correct? If so, you should have no worries driving the 703's as they are pretty efficient. As Cathy (cfrizz) said, they won't reach their full potential until you're driving them with an external amp, but they'll sound great on the Yamaha and you shouldn't have to worry about damaging either the speakers or the AVR (unless you go crazy on the volume knob).
Cathy provided a list of great amps to consider. I'd personally shy away from the Crown as it's a pro amp.
If you can find a Parasound 750a, it's a great low cost amp that works great with Polks.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -

Since you listen to 2 channel, get rid of that AVR as none of them do justice for music even with an external amp. Get a nice integrated or separates.Political Correctness'.........defined

Jump on them while you can.
