Monitor 10B Missing Audio Plug in Back

I have a pair of 7A, but I recently am trying to acquire a Monitor 10s. I found some for sale, but the seller notified me that one of the "lugs" on the back is missing/knocked off. I guess short and sweet question - fixable? Can I replace it?

Sorry for the bad picture, it's the best I received:

I can't imagine this isn't fixable, but I never encountered this before, and just wanted some advice if anyone has the time.

Carefully remove the plate so you dont damage gasket-reuse it. Look at what you have & Go to Parts Express online-they have some. Replace all of them. While your at it you can put LocTite Power Grab around the woofer magnets (each side of magnet put a bead on it & let them dry overnight) to help prevent the magnets from shifting. Get a intimate relationship with your speakers :)

Hi deancarr. Welcome to Club Polk!

Those are standard binding posts for all the vintage Monitor (and others) lines of speakers from Polk. I don't know if you can still buy them new, but you should be able to get one or two off of a club member around here just by asking. So, yes, you can fix it and it is a non-issue. I recently sent a pair of them to another newb who had a similar problem.

You just need to test the speakers prior to buying them so you know what is working and what is not. You can still press a bare speaker wire up against the flat metal of that 'lug' he mentioned to see how they work. That will let you know if all of your drivers and tweeters work. If so, and the price is right, grab them up, they're a sweet speaker pair.

This would also be a good time to consider getting all new, better binding posts for both speakers of the pair too. Dave (westmassguy), and others around here has some good suggestions that can be gotten on the cheap that look and function considerably above their price point. BPs are a cheap and easy upgrade that most anyone can feel comfortable doing.

    Good luck.
